Professional Experience 2007

Present Buckland Customs Brokers, St. Thomas, Ontario
I am currently employed as the Development Supervisor. I report to the Manager of Trade Application Design. My duties include, code quality control, deployment and build management, task assignment and lead application and database designer and development. C#, Java, HTML ( ASP.NET ), AJAX and JavaScript are the languages that are used most often in my day. We are currently developing under the 2.0 Dot NET frameworks and using the SQL Server 2005 database. I do have experience with the 3.0 framework. Also gained much experience in EDI formats such as XML, ANSIX12, Edifact and 810 formats. I was responsible for building, designing and instruction of the building of parsers and builders for many formats. Our major project is an ASP.NET system that allows our data entry clerks to key in shipment entries, submit the entries to Canadian Customs in order to clear trucks at the border automatically.
Key Achievements: 
  • Built a program called YAFFLE. YAFFLE does three things: o Tracks User Activities on the local workstations. Records time logged in, logged out, locked and unlocked. o Used for attendance tracking o Used for an In/Out board which is built in ASP.NET 
  • Assisted in the design and build of an Client focused Entry Portal 
  • Lead Developer and Designer for the primary application which aids in the clearing of trucks and the borders. Responsible for assigning tasks, creating application builds, testing, code quality and the bulk of the UI and business logic development. I also played the primary role of database development. This project also had the requirement of an in-house document management system to help save cost. The document management system was done using asp.net, SQL2005 and a Microsoft Fax server. 
  • Built a code generator which builds C# code that represents database objects based on database objects. This code generator has decreased development time by 20% and provides a common database interface. 
  • Built a pre-arrival system which integrates with US Customs eManifest system.
2004 - 2007 ICINITI Corporation, London, Ontario
Senior Web Developer for using ASP.NET. Developing e-commerce solutions for large and small companies. Manage personal projects, develop new modules, support existing projects and train customers. I often talk to clients to determine their needs and write statements of work which are to be understood by developers and non-developers.
Key Achievements: 
  • Help achieve a standard development product to develop websites from. Project known as BaseProduct.NET 
  • Developed tools and interfaces that aid in the management of the e-commerce sites.

Own and operated PW Consulting. Delivered IT solutions to mid-sized and large companies from around the world. Specialized in AS400, Web and PC integrations.

Key Achievements: 
  • Converted an old Canada Customs gateway software to JAVA. 
  • Converted JAVA Canada Customs gateway software to VB.NET 
  • Rebuilt the CLVS module ( Courier Low Value Shipments ) 
  • Rebuilt parts of the B3 to increase usability 
    Customer’s Installation and Support 
  • Built RNS ( Release Notification System ) to be used by online account holders and other Customs Brokerage (http://www.rns.ca/ ) 
  • Helped maintain BP2000 ( LCS ) broker software.
1997 – 1999 Executive Publications Inc., Cambridge, Ontario Designed and developed software that integrated to factory automation equipment. Supported and trained customers and their workers.
Key Achievements:
  • Developed Die Wash software that integrated to a fully automatic Die Wash System for the Ford Motor Company. Controlled multiple axes, delivered parameters for each die and any special instructions.
  • Developed Die Storage software that integrated to a fully automatic Die Storage System for the Ford Motor Company. Dies were stored in vertical shelves and cataloged by the software. Software delivered location and special instructions for retrieving and storing dies.
  • Developed Blank and Die Storage System Software for Daimler Chrysler. Conducted FIFO storage rules for storing materials and optimized storage for space. Cataloged die locations and delivered special instructions.
